Today, I was informed by a good friend of mine that the last Metal club in New York, L'amours-"The Rock Capitol Of Brooklyn," has been shut down for good. They were closed for the month of January for renovations, and were supposed to have their first show back on this Saturday. They ended up losing their lease, which is probably something else that was being worked out over the month. This club had so many great acts over the years, and jump-started many careers. I had the honor of playing the club twice, and seeing great bands like Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, Macabre, Dying Fetus (opened for them), OverKill, Magus Beast, King Diamond, Children Of Bodom, Nevermore, and Dimmu Borgir. Probably have seen a few more, but my memory is kind of shot. Hopefully they will re-open in the very very very near future, for the scene's sake, for our sake, and for the staff running the place. They could be the meanest assholes, but if you were cool to them, they treated you like you were family. Hell, one of the staff gave me a few bottles of water for free, which normally cost $3. Met many great people at the club, met a few enemies as well. Good luck to the staff in finding new work.
Goodbye, L'amours, been some great times, hopefully I'll see you again...
